Welcome to the Lappeenranta! As a new student, the first weeks focus on studies and the campus in Skinnarila, but there is much more to see and experience in Lappeenranta. This is worth reading, even if you’re no longer a freshman, because sometimes you really want to bother getting there all the way downtown.

The lack of a car doesn’t matter either, as the bus provides easy access from Skinnarila to the city center. My choice for the summer has been the bike when going to the center or the harbor and with a friend, the trip becomes a fun day trip.

There are many different student events, but the city of Lappeenranta also offers culture at a suitable price for students. Admission to the orchestra’s concerts is only 6.5 euros and to the theater 12 euros. The city of Lappeenranta also organizes a lot of events and 29.8. the Port Lights (Sataman valot) event will be organized, which will end the summer season in Lappeenranta. My own favorites are September 4-6. organize art @ bars that combine local culture and restaurant life.

Lappeenranta harbor and fortress are my own favorite places and there is a traditional sand castle, which is worth a visit before closing on 30.8. There are also good terraces and cafés in the area of the harbor and the fortress.

Sport is an important part of life for many, and there are good sports facilities and gyms on campus. However, given the current situation, outdoor halls and outdoor activities are recommended and Lappeenranta has good opportunities for that, which you can read more about here.

Camping equipment can be rented from Drakkar in the Hiekkalinna area and Skinnarila until the end of August. For example, bicycles, boats and SUP boards can be rented.

The city of Lappeenranta organizes a lot of different activities and events, so you should follow VisitLappeenranta and Lappeenranta on Facebook and Instagram.
